For the past two years, Phoenix International Raceway has generously named the spring Camping World Series West race the Jimmie Johnson Foundation 150.
In 2008, the foundation hosted a special reception at the race for its charity partner programs. Jimmie and Chandra participated in the pre-race ceremonies with children from Victory Junction and Make-A-Wish. To cap off the weekend, Jimmie drove his #48 Lowe's Chevrolet to an exciting 1st place finish in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series, his first win of the 2008 season!
This year’s Jimmie Johnson Foundation 150 presented by Shamrock Farms took place on April 16, 2009. Over 100 fans and supporters joined Jimmie and Chandra as they hosted the Night of Champions event in the Octane Lounge. Fans had the opportunity to mingle with Jimmie and Chandra and bid on unique auction items while watching all the race action! The event raised funds for the Jimmie Johnson Foundation and West Valley Child Crisis Center, a local Phoenix charity. eBay auction winner Kelli Edgy won the chance to be the Grand Marshal and deliver the command to start engines. She and her husband rode in the pace car with Jimmie and Chandra.
PIR continued their support of the Jimmie Johnson Foundation throughout the race weekend wtih the Subway Fresh Fit 500 Jimmie Johnson Foundation ticket package for the Cup race on Sunday.
